OVACOME

Over the summer of 2018, I completed an internship abroad, and it was the most amazing experience of my life. I intern for Ovacome, an organization located in London, UK. Its main focus is to spread awareness of Ovarian Cancer and help the women who have been currently diagnosed. For a period of 6 weeks, I conducted a program OVA TO YOU; I connected the organization with a variety of other women organizations to create a partnership to reach out to those women that were not getting Ovacome's message due to certain barriers, i.e., Language, religion or immigration status.

My experience interning abroad opened my eyes in many ways. I learned about different cultures as I traveled to 5 different countries during my internship. I learned about different customs and the European Union richness in languages, food, and religion; it truly amazed me. The Global Medallion Program also prepared me for this cultural change that I experienced on my internship, the program focus on enhancing global awareness, global perspective, and  global engagement helped me adapt to a new  environment

HUMAN RIGHTS FOUNDATION

During my senior year of college, I got the opportunity to intern for the Human Rights Foundation in the department of Human Trafficking. Since I started doing my research for this foundation, I realize how big of an issue Human Trafficking is and how there is not enough awareness, especially in Miami, that ranks #1 in the nation for human Trafficking Cases. In the internship, I got to present in High Schools and to share awareness. Human Trafficking is a global issue, it violates human rights, and it is considered modern slavery.
